§ 2-17. Temporary employees generally.

  • The board of county commissioners and each county officer is hereby authorized to employ temporary employees for periods of not to exceed three (3) months. Such employees may include student employees during vacation periods, temporary replacements, or other special purpose employees but shall not include potentially permanent employees during a probationary period.

    Such temporary employees shall be deemed to be contractual employees and shall not be included in the state and county officers and employees retirement system, and shall not be included in the social security system, shall not be included in any group insurance programs, and shall not accrue any annual vacation time.
