§ 11.5-29. Prefabricated structural items.

  • Holders of construction and industrial permits may haul prefabricated structural items such as steel or concrete beams, trusses, etc., within limitations of permit in compliance with the following:

    (a)

    Height 14 feet maximum.

    (b)

    Width 12 feet maximum.

    (c)

    Weight: Legal.

    (d)

    Length 75 feet maximum:

    (1)

    Hauling permitted daylight hours, week days only, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

    (2)

    Blanket permits permissible.

    75 to 85 feet maximum:

    (1)

    Dependent upon substantiating conditions, hauling may be permitted during daylight hours, week days only, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

    (2)

    Rear overhang of load to be determined dependent upon equipment and load conditions.

    (3)

    Trip basis or job basis permits only to be issued. (No blanket permits to be considered.)

    (4)

    No escort except police escort being required when making right angle turns within city limits.

    More than 85 feet:

    (1)

    Hauling permits may be considered daylight hours, week days only, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, dependent upon substantiating conditions.

    (2)

    Rear overhang of load to be determined by equipment and load conditions.

    (3)

    Permit to be issued on trip basis only.

    (4)

    Company escort required in rural areas and police escort required in city limits; police or highway patrol escort may be required dependent upon traffic conditions throughout entire route.

    (e)

    Remarks: Multiple loading to develop the terms of this permit will not be permitted. It is based on a single-item requirement.
