§ 11.5-21. Tilt trailer used in hauling.

  • The following provisions shall apply to tilt trailers for use in hauling:

    (a)

    Height 14 feet maximum:

    (1)

    Movement permitted daylight hours only, all days.

    (2)

    Blanket permits permissible.

    (b)

    Length 55 feet maximum:

    (1)

    Movement permitted daylight hours only, all days.

    (2)

    Blanket permits permissible.

    (3)

    Lengths in excess of fifty-five (55) feet will not be issued.

    (c)

    Width 10 feet maximum:

    (1)

    Movement permitted daylight hours only, all days.

    (2)

    Blanket permits permissible.

    (d)

    Width 12 feet maximum: Movement permitted daylight hours, weekdays only, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Widths greater than twelve (12) feet will not be permitted.

    (e)

    Weight single axle: Gross of twenty-four thousand (24,000) pounds may be considered for trailer and load, excluding weight of truck. See general requirements for capacity of truck and safety measures.

    (f)

    Tandem axles: Gross weight of thirty-two thousand (32,000) pounds may be considered for trailer and load, excluding weight of truck. See general requirements for capacity of truck and safety measures.

    (g)

    Special attention general requirements: To be pulled by truck with a minimum of two-ton rated capacity; electrical or suitable power brakes required on trailer; safety chains; stop lights and turn signals; speed restricted to twenty-five (25) miles per hour.
