§ 2-20. Membership of county employees in health maintenance organization authorized.

  • (a)

    It is hereby determined and declared that the containment of medical costs for county employees is a county purpose.

    (b)

    The membership of Polk County in Employers Health Care Group of Polk County, Inc., a Florida corporation not for profit, which exists for the purpose, among others, of assisting member employers in containing, controlling and reducing medical care costs for such employers and their employees, is hereby authorized.

    (c)

    The expenditure of county funds in furtherance of the goal of medical cost containment for the county and its employees, including, without limitation, dues for the membership authorized in subsection (b) hereof, is hereby authorized.
