§ 8-67. Definitions.

  • For the purposes of this article, the following terms shall have the following meanings:

    Facility: A public swimming pool or public bathing place.

    Operation of a swimming pool or bathing place: The use of a swimming pool or bathing place by any person, regardless of whether adult or child, unless the said pool or bathing place is closed, and clearly marked by signs stating the facility is closed and prohibiting its use.

    Private pool, bathhouse or bathing place: A facility used only by an individual citizen and his family or house guests and shall not include any type of cooperative housing or joint tenancy of three (3) or more families. Any of such facilities located at a motel, hotel, apartment house, condominium, trailer park, camp or mobile home subdivision shall not be a private facility for the purposes of this article.

    Public bathing place: A bathing place together with buildings, appurtenances and equipment used in connection therewith on artificial or natural ponds, springs, lakes, streams or other water, where the public is allowed to bathe or swim or is open to the public for these purposes by consent of the owner.

    Public swimming pool: All pools, swimming pools and buildings, appurtenances and equipment used in connection therewith which are not included within the definition of a private pool, bathhouse or bathing place.

    Swimming pool or pool: A structure of concrete, masonry or other approved material and finish, located either indoors or outdoors, used or designed to be used for bathing or swimming purpose by humans, and filled with a controlled water supply, together with buildings, appurtenances and equipment used in connection therewith.
