Latest version.
  • There is hereby established by the board of county commissioners a fire prevention bureau under the direction of the director of the department of public safety and consisting of the county fire marshal, fire chief and their respective agents, employees and designees. The function of the fire prevention bureau shall be to inspect as often as budget and man-power constraints permit all buildings except residential one-family or two-family detached dwelling units. The local fire marshal shall determine that a threat to life safety or property exists prior to applying this code to any existing building. However, nothing herein shall preclude the county from requiring a structure to be maintained in accordance with this code, and the applicable fire safety code adopted herein, and the state uniform fire safety rules. The fire prevention bureau shall review plans for construction, erection, alteration, repair or demolition of all buildings except residential one-family or two-family detached dwelling units covered under this article to ensure that such structures that are proposed in the plans comply with the provisions of this article.
