Latest version.
  • Any person holding a current active certificate of competency may go on inactive status, during which time he shall not engage in the contracting field for which said certificate was issued, but may retain his certificate on an inactive basis upon payment of an annual inactive renewal fee. Any person on inactive status desiring to return to active status may do so by applying to the secretary of the board for return to active status and providing evidence of current insurance including workers' compensation, surety bond, current occupational license, current state registration, and payment of all required fees. However, certificate holders who have been on inactive status in excess of five (5) years must successfully pass an administrative examination and appear before the board and receive board approval prior to return to active status. The provisions of this article not withstanding, those individuals who are certified pursuant to this article and in addition are required to place their certificate of competency on inactive status as a condition of employment, shall be exempt from any fees during the term of said employment and shall be exempt from any testing requirements upon reactivation of the certificate of competency.
