§ 5-304. Current certification.

  • (a)

    Any person or firm who desires to do business in any one or more of the areas regulated by this article and who holds a current certificate of competency issued by the board shall not be required to obtain a new certificate under this article if such previously issued certificate is valid at the time this article goes into effect; provided, however, that said person or firm shall be required to renew said certificate upon its expiration, in accordance with the requirement herein set forth.

    (b)

    Any person who is required by this article to obtain a certificate of competency shall be excused from taking any required examination, but not from the other requirements of this article, if said person is licensed by any other county or by any municipality in the state and has satisfactory completed a standard examination to determine the competency of such contractor or journeyman, and said examination has been approved by the board; provided that said municipality or county has adopted plumbing, electrical, building, swimming pool, mechanical, or other codes comparable to those applicable to the county.
