§ 4-34. Guard dog standards.

  • (a)

    The following minimum requirements shall apply to each business or individual owning, possessing, and/or utilizing any guard dog in Polk County:

    (1)

    All animals in the care, custody or control of a business or individual must be treated in a humane manner at all times.

    (2)

    All guard dogs shall have current vaccinations, valid Polk County licenses, and be implanted with an RFID microchip.

    (3)

    Records must be maintained and kept current for each animal in the care, custody or control of the business or individual which include, at a minimum, the following information:

    a.

    The name, address, and telephone number of the legal owner of the animal;

    b.

    Current vaccination records;

    c.

    The name, address, and telephone number of the attending veterinarian;

    d.

    Records of any medications administered to the animal that includes the date, time, and dosage amount;

    e.

    The animal's photograph and corresponding RFID microchip number.
