§ 4-30. Impounding of animals running at large.

  • (a)

    Animal control officers are authorized to impound any animal if that animal is at-large, or astray, and may lawfully enter onto private property when in pursuit of the animal.

    (b)

    Animal control officers are authorized to impound cats, including a feral cat colony, or any of its members and may lawfully enter onto private property when in pursuit of the animal if:

    (1)

    The cat or cats create public health and safety concerns (including rabies and other zoonotic diseases and certain animal to animal disease); or

    (2)

    The cat or cats create a nuisance as defined in section 4-31(a)(1) or (2).
