§ 2-243. Power to declare a state of local emergency.

  • Pursuant to Florida's State Emergency Management Act of 1974, F.S. Ch. 252, the board shall declare, and extend, if necessary, a state of local emergency whenever it determines that an emergency affecting the county has occurred, or is imminent. When a quorum of the board is unable to meet, the chair of the board, or the vice-chair, in his or her absence; or the county manager; or his or her designee, in that sequence, is hereby empowered to determine, declare and, if necessary, extend a state of local emergency.
