§ 10.3-19. Handicapped parking spaces, permit required; exception.

  • (1)

    Any public parking space posted with the sign bearing the internationally accepted wheelchair symbol and the caption "PARKING BY DISABLED PERMIT ONLY" shall be covered by this section.

    (2)

    A handicapped person is one who is physically disabled and who has been issued an exemption entitlement parking permit pursuant to Section 320.0848, Florida Statutes (1985).

    (3)

    No person shall park any vehicle in any designated "handicapped" public parking space on county owned or leased property or private property within the unincorporated areas of Polk County unless such vehicle displays a parking permit issued pursuant to Section 320.0848, Florida Statutes. However, any vehicle transporting a handicapped person shall be allowed, without a permit, to momentarily stop in such designated parking space for the purpose of loading or unloading a handicapped person.
